In the spotlight: Velugu Special School, India

Velugu is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organisation established in 1997 to provide food, clothing, healthcare, education, rehabilitation and residential accommodation for both children and aged women who are vulnerable and / or with a disability across the Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh, India. Velugu responds to their essential needs, improving their living conditions, protecting them from violence and abuse and supporting them in their efforts to become self-reliant – ultimately promoting respect for their dignity and their fundamental rights.

Velugu believe that permanent change is only possible when the root causes that continue to keep people exploited and vulnerable are overcome.
